The weekly not for much longer TOTP review 18 Years, 10 Months ago
It's nearly there - the end of TOTP.
So the BBC decide to kill it off by putting it on 25 minutes later than usual in order to lose all but the most loyal fans.
McFly doing Queen filled me with horror but actually they make a pretty good fist of Don't Stop Me Now; I think Freddie would be smiling.
I was rather impressed and very surprised.
Manics James does his solo single (I assume he's not the one who disappeared after carving his arms for the NME)... ah, he's the one who looks like a Welsh builder. Quite good; harmless; is Rob Stringer A&Ring him in his spare time?
Then Beyonce going solo on video with yet another guest rapper (if you want to hear my sendup of guest rappers, check out Gimme Some on Listen Here with Fordinoine Cent)... it's Jay Z by the way, if anyone cares.
Tired formula celebrity hop hip.
James Morrison in at 27 has a good voice and looks like a sheep.
He's very good indeed. Him and Paolo; great fresh talent.
A shave would be nice for both though; I hate little boys showing they can grow beardettes.
Chilis from that live gig. TOTP make a great deal out of live gigs; they always look and sound average and all exactly the same.
Where does the sample for Voodoo Child come from please; it's driving me crazy.
Rogue Traders were a bit "knocked together to front dance hit".
Then one of my great No Limits classics - Huey Lewis and The Power of Love; fabulous - summed up 1985 perfectly for me.
Franz F... I'm never quite convinced by them (and I do hate songs that go lalalalala).
And out with Lily offspring of Keith and her Macy Gray/tweetiepie/Melanie cutesy pukesy Smile - i -poo.
A co-write, we are told.
Don't you just love this co-write trick?
