One of the most famous cases of unauthorised sampling, which also robbed her of her face.

This period was marked by - let's face it - a lot of pasty House producers trying to give their music more soul by hiring black session singers or, in this case, not even hiring her. She did win the subsequent lawsuit, however.

But I have to say, whilst they should have got permission and I'm sure it would have been granted, those producers made a global smash out of something that wasn't.
