We may have a long wait until we hit the 80s... they're starting the run by repeating shows from exactly 35 years ago. I was only two in 1976 so it will be the first time I've seen most of these editions - I think most of this era was hosted by Tony and Noel, maybe David H?

I was in the very first London based TOTP in 1965; all through the 70s (as a pop star); all through the 80s (US charts); just in the 90s (handing discs for my 1990 Dance Medley No2 smash for The Brits); not the 2000s so they cancelled the show. Without me it was nothing!

Now then, now then yong man; haven't you left somebody off the list? Are yoooo telling me that you don't remember a man with distinctive long silver coloured hair, sporting a track suit and a peculiar northern accent? [Urhhgh urghh urgh - oh no I've spilt cigar ash all over my prized gold coloured trackie. I hope Sketchley's can get it out].

Personally I can't wait. Totp was an essential part of life for everyone that grew up in the 70's or 80s. There was so much excitement surrounding the charts. Everyone knew what the number one was, nowadays I hardly ever know what is number one and care even less. The 90s and 00s have just been very bland decades for pop. Bring on the re-runs of totp and lets hope they don't cut out jk from those 80s episodes.

Sadly Robbie I've already been cut out - my last top 5 hit was in 1975 - the year before they have now started; and in 1976 10cc had jumped ship (for big money - a lot of which I got) to Polygram.

The most we can hope for is a satirical version of Paloma Blanca by The Wurzels.

But surely if they are showing the TOTP shows in full, you'll feature as the American presenter in some of the shows?

Oh yes, Dixie - unless the Beeb censors cut me out they will have to feature me then but it would be in an awfully long time!

If they are showing 1 a week, then we will have to wait around 6 years before we see jk presenting the American charts. From next thursday they will be showing them at 7.30 on a thursday for 40 minutes, just like they did when first broadcast. I think they should show the old Tommorrows Worlds before to maximise the effect that you're back in 1976.

Jk didn't you appear on totp wearing a rainbow coloured wig, I seem to remember from my childhood. Wasn't this post 76, its unlikely I would remember it if it was much before then?

Come to think of it, I was also Top 5 in 1976 with It Only Takes A Minute - so watch out for me (as One Hundred Ton and a Feather) in June, as long as they don't cut me!

The BBC seem to be doing a good PR job getting the buzz going. I assume these are the very same TOTPs that UK GOLD TV showed a few years ago, but never promoted them.

Watching the 1964-1974 show it's frightening how many of those on it actually sat in this very room 43 years ago... I'm just looking at Marc Bolan who used to sit on this very carpet (sorry) and sing me his new songs before anyone heard them; Deborah first, then the rest.

Loving the totp evening, as are most people if they're honest. Only spoiled slightly by having old cynics like Paul Morley, who would rather watch shoe gazing groups like joy division than anything thats any fun.

Who are Fox?, I've never seen or heard of this group in my life before. i imagine this song hasn't been shown for decades. Also how come the Beatles had 3 songs in the charts in 1976, 6 years after breaking up. Everyone was slagging off Brotherhood of Man, but i bet they still sing along to it when it comes on. Still the biggest selling Eurovision song ever??
