Doherty not a D Morris man so removed with almost unseemly haste ;even senior UK Sony surprised at the speed of this change. Gatfield bounces back hard.
I'm hearing the rumours are 100% accurate. Interesting that you see them nowhere else. I may be out of the loop but the Tip Sheet still gets everything first.
So Cowell and Azoff team up over X Factor. The music powerbroker world shrinks a little more and the fate of many is reduced into the hands of the few.
Rumours that Ged is setting up a management company to handle X-Factor/BGT/Syco signings is doing the rounds. I assume that will put him head to head with Richard and Harry.
When I first knew Ged he was managing Paul Young; Griffiths is responsible for bringing him to Sony so I can't see him going into competition - partners with him and Harry perhaps.
My path first crossed with Ged when he was at CBS, probably just before it became Sony. Though I may have met him at a Paul Young reception at a hotel in Lower Beeding. (Can't remeber the date). I then remember him leaving to go to BMG, and, then surviving the Sony BMG merger to head the combined SonyBMG UK arm. With BMG leaving, he then ended at what is now Sony Music UK.
I agree with you, competing with Richard and Harry would be at odds with what you would expect.
