Regulars will know I'm a big fan of Doris and I'm delighted her current success means more and more Doris on TV and radio but it struck me today - her singing charm is that giggle/smile in her voice and I realised who else had that quality - our own Alma Cogan, even before Doris.

Isn't it time for an Alma revival?

Incidentally Gordon Burn (sadly now dead) wrote a superb novel called Alma Cogan.

BBC4 did a very good documentary on her about 2 years ago. I agree she's an interesting figure - and a very smart woman.
