I think the most honest and honourable comments on this dear man have come on the Letters and Obituary pages of our National Newspapers; check out the Guardian, Times, Independent... dozens of private tributes made public, the little things he did (some of which I was privileged to witness).
A genuinely decent man. And my God, the haters are seething!
David Icke's rant is, alas, typical of the man. Much of Icke's work is fantastic but he feeds his detractors with that kind of claptrap and ruins all the good work. Now I see they've also brought dear old Fluff into the equation too, a man whom I had - until this week - never heard a bad word about. I wonder what his opinion is on JK - maybe his conviction was a "smokescreen" in the eyes of The Ickester?
The man presented the first and last edition of totp. He presented the fabulous Jim'll fix it for 20 years.
He was a professional wrestler, he rode the tour of Britain and ran over 200 marathons, raising millions for charity.
He was one of a kind, born in Leeds, and lived in Leeds his whole life. He voluntarily worked at St James Hospital, Leeds, and Stoke Mandiville Hospital. There will never be another like him. He will forever be a large part of my childhood and will be forever remembered, god bless him.
