Spotted Bill Oddie at Janis Ian concert on Saturday 13 Years, 7 Months ago
I came across him quite by accident as I headed for the loos, he looked at me for a while before I realised who he was. But I didn't say anything. Hope he's ok, he looked pretty thin, had a walking stick and was alone.

When she heard he had been at the show, Janis posted:

Much as I'd have liked to see Clapton, Beck, Adele et al at my show, it's pretty cool that Bill Oddie was there.
And don't forget Helena Kennedy, QC!!

Here's a bit of classic Janis, from the Old Grey Whistle Test.

He always was intrigued by strange birds! And, in Janis' case, highly talented (and very under rated) warblers.

Actually I tend to think of her more as a writer than a singer.

Not very familiar with her work {apart, of course, from "At Seventeen"}.

My parents used to be members of the RSPB, and Oddie used to turn up regularly at events... just sit at the back very quietly, hunched, silent and giving every impression of being abnormally unhappy,. I think he's a deeply private man, much less gregarious than his public persona would suggest.

Saw him at the incomparable Jonatha Brooke's last gig at Bush Hall last year. Clearly a man (no longer 17) with fine, class female talent, musical taste.

Oddie's a manic-depressive, isn't he? I'm not convinced that this excuses how incredibly rude and bolshy he used to be to people every single day - I do take the condition seriously, and know several who suffer from it, but none of them seems anywhere near as incapable as Oddie of being pleasant and polite most of the time. I suspect he's always been pretty unpleasant.

As for Janis, 'Fly Too High' was the last single of hers I can recall, and that was years ago. Nice voice.

I've followed Ian's career off and on, except for the decade she took out of music, but the brilliant review of her London show that appeared in yesterday's Times says it all about the truly remarkable performance she gave at the Cadogan Hall on Saturday. She nailed it like few performers I've ever seen.

Anyone the program where he wanted to play the guitar and had his own coach he was very arrogant and stubborn to her ?

And at the end of his gig some kid went up to him and wanted to shake his hand and said great set man and just looked at him miserably and said nothing.
