Absolutely brilliant. *Everybody* was a true professional and they were seemingly able to call on any musician and go to any location they required to get the best results possible.

These days you’re all stuck in a studio with a bunch of software, the lack of quality and workmanship shows. All about money I guess.

I didn't know there were any early recordings of "Bridge over Troubled Water", they played a snippet of Paul singing it with guitar, early lyrics and "still not bedded in" melody. Yes - some of those moments included were incredible and made me gasp (I covered Cecilia when it came out incidentally - hear it on my box set - and spent hours trying to capture a similar rhythm feel: now I know how they did it - slapping jeans!).

As credits explained; Paul and Artie contributed private stuff. Incidentally wasn't Artie's thoughts on their friendship touching?

Cheers for the link. I noticed Amazon didn’t have a track listing which is a bit annoying since I already have a few S&G compilations.

I Googled around a bit and found a site which has a very detailed track listing of all 3 disks. A sharing site.

Isn’t it great to live in a time where the so called “pirates” giving it away care more about the product than the retailers?

Among Paul's subsequent solo releases, Hearts and Bones, especially, is a brilliant album, and yet it was barely acknowledged at the time. I believe this was the album that was planned as a Simon and Garfunkel reunion, but then tensions arose once again, Art's vocals were removed and it reverted to a Paul solo outing. If you haven't heard it, it's well worth seeking out; the lyrics are stunningly good.
