It's always a sign that wankers are in charge when the cosmetics dominate the news.

"A new award statue" - looks nice (well done Peter) is a way to avoid the real problem - create a decent show.

After the fiasco of the 1989 Brits (Sam Fox year) I was asked to take over and revived The Brits. I didn't change the statue or the name (I christened them The Brits when I hosted and wrote the show in 1987; it stands for British Record Industry Trusts Show). I simply made it a good, entertaining show. Better still in 1991 when I created the Great British Music concerts over three terrific nights at Wembley. Then, in 1992, the wankers started taking over so I quit after the show.

For God's sake, create a marvellous, entertaining evening that gets huge ratings and promotes British music around the world. My ambition was for The Brits to replace The Grammys as the Premiere Music Awards show every year.
