I've watched a few of Mike Read's progs on Vintage TV (FreeSat). He's got a cool way of presenting. I think I'm becoming a fan.

Highrise

(Which was based on one of his Radio 1 jingles). "Mike Read" was replaced with "High Rise".

He sounds to me like he's slightly slurring his words these days. Was there ever a lazier high profile disc jockey? Poor old Johnny Beerling practically had to drag him into work some days when he was doing the brekkie show.

Guess being bankrupt twice and having a deranged fan as made him drink last time I heard of him he was selling he beloved record collection to clear some debts or something.

But his West End plays have been appalling and read that only critics have turned up but glad his a fan of Johns Children.

I watched the The Vintage Christmas Pop Quiz last night. I was surprised that none of the panel did very well when it came to identifying the snippets songs in the first round. None of them recognised "It's Christmas Time" by Status Quo.

They got better as the show went on tho, and they seemed to get younger the more they remembered. But I think that some musical veterans need to remember that they don't just live in the past; they also have a present and a future. They still have a lot to offer the world, and younger people like me can learn from and benefit from their experience.
