So those Military Wives have the biggest selling single since Shayne Ward! On a major label (Universal - funnily enough on Decca, which I ran twice when it was an independent company), massive TV, Radio Two and Chris Evans promoting it...

No hope for an unsigned, unpublished, lone lad who has only had support from You Tube (we love You Tube) - no airplay (it's starting), no major label machines (they are, of course, now jamming his phone)... just one terrific, cheap, fun, sweet video (with over 2.5 million views in 3 weeks).

The new Shayne Ward or Alex Day? I know who I'd prefer to be.

Well Alex was fine on Radio One but the show was ghastly; terrible music by total non talents like Stacy Giggle and Essex Idiots; stoopid questions by brain dead DJ, unbelievable the crap today's kids are suffering in the name of entertainment.

Nice to know it's not just the music that's in trouble but radio and TV too (mind you, we did know that).

I thought Forever Yours stood out as original, very British, charming, sweet and miles better than most other sounds; only Nirvana and Coldplay were decent. As for the Donkey (no wonder it's never been a hit before). There's novelty and novelty.

But Alex, You Tube and the real world shows there is hope for the future.
