Well, you could say that only the Christmas No1 should be featured along with past classics - fair enough as long as they don't feature the ghastly (major label) Little Mix.

The Christmas Day Top Of The Pops was recorded on Monday 12th December. I understand they have madea number of endings, announcing the Chrismas Day No.1

In theory, Little Mix qualify to be featured, as they had a number one in 2011, and the show is a review of the year.

This is likely to be my last posting of 2011, so may I take this opportunity to wish all fellow posters, and people involved in this wonderful industry (past and present) and wonderful Christmas and a Happy 2012.

Unfortunately I was aware that the show would be pre recorded - as usual, convenience beats editorial quality every time.

When we did Entertainment USA for the BBC (a great series as well as a massively popular one) we used to have a tracking shot starting on me, going to voice over (perfectly matched by the excellent sound dubbing editor) to fit in current news (even from the morning of transmission) and then back onto me for the generic sign off.

Literally dozens of executives stopped me in the TV Centre the next day and said "I thought you were in America".

A little creative imagination goes a long way in entertainment. So sad so few seem to have any.

And I'll bet the show features numerous acts that didn't have Number Ones during the year - let alone Number 4's - and you know what? They will all be on MAJOR LABELS.

Alex Day currently isn't anywhere in the top 40,we don't know where in the charts he will be on sunday, if anywhere, so it's highly unlikely that he will be on the christmas totp.
He isn't even featured on the radio 1 playlists.

oh come on, this is about JK being able to say, 'look, i still have the midas touch' and ' i was right all along and you ignored me', well you are not right, move on, there is nothing here to see. JK has made good living by never under-estimating the public's taste for shit. It is why all of his successes , and Nizlopi and DJ Daz as picked up by his proteges,stink to high heaven and can never build a sustainable career.

These tracks are ona par with Judge Dread, Chris Hill, Gary Jules and, say it quietly, Military wives. No one will look back in a year and say , well, that was a wise investment of 49p. They will smell like 3 day old fish.

Sure the perpertrators will make a living out if it, the great unwashed will part with the cash and we will move on to the next talentless drone. Just don't tell me this is art, the new model or anything realting to the music industry, it is wanking for coins.
