Mark Mothersbough is a genius.

I've been a fan of DEVO since The Wolrds Greatest Punk Album in the world came out in 1996.

When I get into rants about how flat the music scene is (it happens usually after a few drinks and people lamenting Oasis), I always close my case by saying, "And where is the new Devo?".

It usually stops everyone dead (perhaps also because they are shuffling into obscurity and people think they should know who they are, but don't).

I allways found Devo fascinating from the first import I bought in 1977. Listening to it now, it has the same feel as it did then, can they play really well,are they being strange, or doing the best they can and using an odd format to express themselves?
When the album finally arrived in the summer of `78 , it was obvious what a great and calculating band they were with a great marketing plan.
The re-recording of "Are We Not Men", proves this instantly when it leaps out of the speakers, and we could all finally tell how much humour they had in their own music.
Where are the new Devo`s indeed Michael, The A+E Line, who have signed to Hackpen have a similar humour,and are recomended, outrageous shows and videos.

They also made some great videos, years before MTV.

Devo are touring here as we speak.about 20 dates in all.

DEVO means Devolution. Evolve backwards not forwards.

We are not men - we are DEVO.
