I adore it. Do you?

she has a very soulful voice and it is a lovely song in the great gospel tradition. The production and the arrangement are both particularly good with a classic soul groove and tasteful string/horns. Makes me think of "Midnight Train to Georgia" straight away, which must make it top flight.
Summed up, it is a class 70s soul record. I wonder why it didn't go the first time out...very strange.

Not too worried about the swearing, but I must say I find it quite derivetive. Sorry about that, but I know you expect honesty from me, it`s a great song for leaping around a bedsit in, but obvious chords, and I find the song to be an obvious thought as well. The sort of thing I meander with whilst riding my bike or walking my dog. Prove me wrong please!

Shades of Midnight Train To Georgia and various other Soul classics, this is really good you should have played this to me back in 78 I'd have known the words by now!! I'm assuming it was a UK release how come I never found this in the cupboards? Seriously really good, very unique voice, great song..
on the song, it's been recorded by a variety of stars ranging from Wet Wet Wet to The Band and to Kenny Rogers and Aretha Franklin won a Grammy for Best Soul Song with it.
But all the versions sound less interesting to me than this one.
More opinions please.
Proper thoughts about the correct song this time.. 18 Years, 9 Months ago
Gorgeous.
I have goosebumps. This song could do very well in advertising currently, I can picture the sort of short film as I listen, families waving goodbye etc at airports and stations, cut in with broken hearted lonely people, being given a cheer up gift of whatever product, at the end.
The only thing I would add recording wise, is for a current release, a more upfront vocal would be required.
A good outside chance of a hit.

Yep, agree with the others, very good! Wonder why it wasn't a hit at the time?
It's funny, I never knew you had a label called UK American Records till I found a couple in a record shop near Leicester Square a few weeks ago. Mine were by Brenda Lee Jones and Clydie King.
Did you release many? How about releasing the best ones onto CD?

Spot on Vince (there is a gap in my list for USA 12 but I was certain Hope Clarke was that one)...
Probably the biggest UK/USA hit was one we've just done a brilliant new dance mix on - UK/USA 2 - Dean Parrish I'm On My Way (still sounds great).
Another I remember fondly was USA 6 - Ooops It Just Slipped Out by The Courtships.
