I been to a few of these and seen many class acts at these gigs such as Dave Berry, Gerry Marsden, Swinging Blue Jeans, The Searchers, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich.
This year tour is Brian Poole, Chris Montez, Brian Hyland and Peter Noone all backed up by Vanity Fare.
First was Brian Poole looks likes Bob Holness when he was alive did all this songs about drugs and was a compare for the show.
Next was Chris Montez did all his hits and doing Richie Valens numbers look very well almost looks like Chico.
Interval-
Brian Hyland who looks like he is the 3rd brother to Johnny and Edgar Winter. Performed all the hits and even did covers of A Whiter Shade Of Pale (the best song ever penned down.)very close to Procal Harum and All Alone The Watchtower better than Dylan and Hendrix in my mind.
Peter Noone women were creaming their knickers when he came on camera and phones came out everywhere. Still looks the same but dyed blonde hair same style. Very good to the audience did a photo with a young fan, good story teller but nothing new same when I saw the Hermits same old story and just a shame he can't reach the high notes anymore.
Ratings
Brian Poole 3/5 (Lots of songs about drugs)
Christ Montez 5/5 (Surf music sounds better live)
Brian Hyland 4/5 (Ruined it by the novelty number you all know.)
Peter Noone 3/5 (I just thought he rushed his songs to get it over and done with and too much talking songs were shorter than his ramblings.) It's why David Crosby was sacked from The Byrds.
Vanity Fare 5/5 ( Great backing band but not a fan of their songs too poppy for me. Hitchin' A Ride sounds like a Butlins track when performed live, don't throw out your 45 single of it they worked very hard to support the artists and couldn't be thanked enough.
Next review might be Joe Brown.
