TOPIC: Glam rock top 10

Glam rock top 10 13 Years, 2 Months ago
After picking up some blank video tapes from my parents at the weekend, I discovered that one of them has the Glam Rock Top ten programme on it from the late 90s. Who should appear on it, none other than jk himself, commenting on Wizzard, and Alvin Stardust. Strangely enough, no quotes regarding the Bay City Rollers, who I believe he wrote "Keep on Dancing" for, or sang the lead.

Gary Glitter came in at no.3, showing a memorable clip of his awful film "Remember me this way". Sadly most people won't remember him that way. Especially readers of tabloid newspapers. It was great to see history told as it was, and not blanked out because of some scandal or other.

T rex were no. 2 and Bowie was no. 1 in case anyone is interested.

correction, Slade were no. 1, assumptions are the mother of all f**k ups. I'm watching it as I type. What happened to Bowie, I don't know. Probably not considered glam enough.

In that whole series of "Top 10" programmes there were a number of overlaps, and the producers obviously had to make some decisions about which show certain acts would appear in, so as to avoid repeating whole sections. The "Top 10 Eighties" and "Top 10 Electronic" shows especially suffered from this as you'd expect, with artists like Human League & Soft Cell being in the Electronic show, but they could easily have been in the 80's show instead.

At a guess, Bowie would have been in a "Top 10 Seventies" show if there was one...

The Human League and Soft Cell were in the top 10 new romantics, whilst depeche mode were in the top 10 80s electro pop groups.
I wish they would re-show this series, along with the bbc "I love..." series. Nevermind there is a new series about the 70s on monday on bbc 2.

Yes and I wonder whether I'll be mentioned in this one?

Where on earth is Josef Stalin when you need him?
