Always a bit embarrassing when the amateur contestants are more confident and out-sing the 'special guest'.

Particularly when the decent contestants were all voted off the week before.

Every year on the Wednesday before the Grammys the Producers Wing hosts a special gala. This year they honored Jimmy Iovine, and inexplicably Lana Del Rey sang at this shindig. I thought it was really bad, almost like someone from SNL was playing a joke on Jimmy. Then Jimmy gets up and talks about her like she's Aretha or the Beatles....really kind of nuts.

I think he's completely removed from reality at this point. It's why Lana Del Rey has a deal, and it's why an act like Adele could only happen out of London.

Why did DelRey win a Brit BTW?

I was at the Brits as well this year and DelRey was well received by the crowd. I was stymied by this as the English are far less likely to suffer fools (IMHO) than those.... particularly in LA.

Iovine's in 'show business' now and Americans in show business cannot say a bad word re acts which make megabucks.

Del Pay was embarrassing on The Voice. Her material's so reliant on atmospheric tracks + mucho fx'd vox. (Tempted to say "what's new?").

She sounds as if shes drunk and singing with her head down the toilet.This is most apparent on "Blue Jeans". Everyone keeps saying "how beautiful she is" like they have been brainwashed by the image to the exclusion of all else.
