Non singing bass players who achieve legendary status are very rare and usually restricted to the jazz world. Duck Dunn was a legend who along with Steve Cropper was a consistent presence on many of the early Stax recordings. He played with Cropper in Booker T's band and the movie version of the Blues Brothers. Some of the classic songs he appeared on included Otis Redding's "Respect" and "I Can't Turn You Loose", Sam & Dave's "Hold On, I'm Comin'", and Albert King's "Born Under a Bad Sign".
