I wonder why it is that repressive regimes (in Khazakstan the President has opponents boiled alive !) are also primitive and backward ? Almost middle ages !!!!! Think Albania, N Korea, all those "stans" in the middle of nowhere etc Repressing freedom also stifles progress maybe ?
