Our second summer smash video... 12 Years, 11 Months ago
Entirely created by Alex (from an original idea from JK) - I think he's made a delightful and very You Tube video (for virtually nothing - all volunteers) to Good Morning Sunshine - about 100,000 views in the first 12 hours - this is the New Model; building, growing developing (as Alex said to me "I'm having such fun making these records and videos" and as I replied "that's the entire point").
Probably destined to be completely ignored by traditional media yet a million kids will watch this before the end of July.

Now 166,000 You Tube views in 24 hours.
But why should music radio care? They are not there to play music their listeners want to hear; they are there to pay presenters to talk lots of silly rubbish for loadsa money.

still having some of the crap from Hackney Weekend ringing in my memory I find this video kinda refreshing. I also like the "This Kiss" but I think the main star on that is Carrie Hope Fletcher. I recently came across Alex Day's "The World Is Mine" is album which makes me wonder why he seems to have given up writing his own material. If it was on CD I would have bought it.

Alex wrote Good Morning Sunshine PH but our attitude is - he should record great songs; not just songs he writes. He is continuing to write but I don't want to limit or curtail his development as a singer and performer.
Having dinner with Alex and Carrie tonight. When I had dinner with Charlie on Tuesday, he was approached by two young fans wanting autographs and photos. Fortunately for my ego, so was I, by an older Indian family who loved my TV shows.

PS .. I also have nothing against covers but I recently heard Faith Hill's version of "This Kiss" and the two versions (hers and Alex Day's) are so alike that I don't why they bothered doing a new one. There is nothing wrong with that .. but it's not even a new interpretation. I just miss the point .. I guess.
This is not really meant as negative criticism .. just feedback.
Re:Our second summer smash video... 12 Years, 11 Months ago
I think making it a duet is a pretty radical change - and our version is more pop and slightly less country.
Plus Faith's superb original (she didn't write it, incidentally) which we championed on the Tip Sheet in the 90s, wasn't nearly as big a hit as I felt it deserved to be.
Lastly - new young audience for the song and, most vital, Alex and Carrie pronounce centrifugal correctly (centri-few-gall not sentri-figgle) - I insisted!

With all due respect JK having read the interviews and also all your posts talking about the new model
it seems that you are deceiving us all. Either Alex is doing it for himself (new model) or you are pulling
his strings (old model).Judging by what you have posted below, the latter seems to be the case so stop
banging on about it being the new model because there is nothing new about what you are doing with Alex.
"Alex wrote Good Morning Sunshine PH but our attitude is - he should record great songs; not just songs he writes. He is continuing to write but I don't want to limit or curtail his development as a singer and performer."
and "Lastly - new young audience for the song and, most vital, Alex and Carrie pronounce centrifugal correctly (centri-few-gall not sentri-figgle) - I insisted!"
Also why aren't you upfront about it in the interviews. I read the one on Hypebot and Alex seems to be
confused with what he is doing. I think it's because you are dictating to him what to do and say and it's not
all from him. Ps no mention of JK's involvement anywhere on the net. Why?. Is he ashamed of you or what?
