Had a lovely meeting with Robert Mackintosh (Cameron's brother) who spoke fondly about his mentor Norman Newell.
Made me go back and check out some of Norman's classic songs including A Portrait Of My Love (Matt Monro)... "there could never be a portrait of my love for nobody could paint a dream". Superb.
The Brits should be honouring these giants of our past in music. Bloody BPI wankers; don't give a shit about music; just their own cash.
I'm very tempted to create a serious, credible, accurate Awards show that promotes and develops new talent whilst praising the old. Henry and Rupert (Ruen Brothers) are coming over for dinner (Robert manages them). I shall be playing them. They are fully paid up members of the new breed of music makers, with great respect for our roots.
