But is it a hit? I remember the classic Bond themes - huge smashes in their own right and a major part of the Bond franchise. Who could ever forget Goldfinger? But not because of the novel or the film.

I've read some very good interviews of lyricist Don Black and John Barry about writing for the screen (and Bond movies in particular). Quick find: www.npr.org/2011/02/04/133372739/remembe...-composer-john-barry But I've read another from Don that was a masterclass in its genre.
