As a direct result of the comments on this board, I downloaded and watched this programme whilst on the train today. It was a really well put together documentary, with insightful interviews. I too have just ordered the Jeff Lynne album. But I cant really see the point of re-recording all the old ELO Classics. I havent listened to the re-recordings, (and I probably never will), but the more constructive reviews of the album on Amazon suggest that the exercise was pointless and Lynne has failed to capture the sound of the original orchestra and players, (strings, drums, bass) on the new versions. I shall look forward to listening to the new album, and I want to revisit the Travelling Wilburys.
Actually, what would be a good compilation, (yes, I still like CDs), would be all of the various songs featured in this programme, by ELO, Lynne, Orbison, Beatles, Harrison, Wilburys, Petty, etc., on one collection. But I suspect youd never get clearance. Pity.
