I gather last night's celebration for Gary Barlow was a triumph; Elton very funny; terrific music; Grosvenor House stage crammed with enthusiastic music industry folk. And fainting MPs.

I was, of course, the 1997 winner. And have the glass award on my mantlepiece to prove it.

I notice I need no description for my talents.

Interesting list.In the first 20 years, (22 recipients as in 1994 and 2002 the award was given to 2 honourees):

5 are sadly no longer with us.

4 recipients don't get a "job description".

2 Recipients have OBEs

3 Recipients have CBEs (But only one in bold).

3 "Sirs"

1 Female

1 Retailer

and until this year, only 1 National Treasure!
