Always liked the song and love this; most commercial rendition by far. The moment those violins are on the radio ears will prick up.

It's a very nice version, her look (eyes & hair) is very 1960's as is the lush orchestration. If I was resonsible for the record I'd have done everything possible to get it placed in a "chick flick" and that way it could have been a very big hit. Unless it gets some TV exposure it probably isn't considered cool enough to get the necessary buzz going. She is a very attractive girl and the treatment is different from the Neil Young original so I hope it does well.

Am I right in guessing this is from your upcoming 3rd film? It has that feel to it.

She is indeed in the movie - playing Heidi Pelling, a spy, brilliantly; the track is not (yet) included but we shall see.

Very nice. I like it but it won't sell anywhere near a million. Can't see radio pick up on it
and it is not arresting like Adele's stuff but hey who knows what could happen. Have a go and good luck.

You're going about this all wrong, here's my advice:

First off, get the girl to wear a ton of make-up, the trendiest trainers around, a very revealing top and shorts so high her butt cheeks hang out of the bottom.

Get Labrinth to do the production.

Replace the verses with Tinie Tempah rapping.

Change some of the chorus lyrics to include phrases like, "Do it like a boss", "droppin' low" and compare yourself to some cool people E.g. "Doin' it like Kurt Cobain".

The video needs to include street scenes of deprived areas, cars bouncing, some muscley bloke with his top off sweating and working out in a gym or boxing club, slutty looking girls, slow-mo shots of the singer but with the mouth in time to the music and finish with a shot of her standing on a tall building roof with her arms outstretched, the camera panning backwards slowly revealing a sunset on the horizon.

I like the music and of course it can sell the music audience is so fragmented anything can work so don worry about it being 45 years too late because I isn't an issue.

Getting a very good reaction from the majority who have never heard the song before and a weak one from those who loved other treatments.

I've listened to it several times and still like the vocal and of course the song. The one thing I don't like is the sound of "the strings". The arrangement is good but they sound too tinny/harsh, probably a function of being electronically produced.

I'm very familar with the Neil Young version. After seeing your post I did a Youtube search and found there are a lot of very good cover versions. I notice one of them by The Corrs was featured in the movie "Leap Year" and another by Everlast was in the movie "Big Daddy".

I liked the Lady Antebellum version best :

Charley's version is very good but IMHO nowhere special or different enough to be a future million seller

I loathe the original but i like this version very much.
The sharp strings are exactly right for the song and give it a distinctive sound but the percussion ( for me) is very distracting and overpowers the vocal.
I would have just used the video shots of her with the black background because her voice is interesting enough to stand alone.
I really hope it goes well for her.

harsh but fair

Re:A future million seller? 12 Years, 3 Months ago
unneccessary...vapid...pointless - and there has never been a track floated as a million seller that got off to such a poor start. It hasn't even made the iTunes Top 1000 at any point, and is probably still well over 999,000 sales away from that million sales. JK is increasingly deluded.
