A big Tip Sheet track... our Front Page Best Single of the Week in Issue 261 (you can find stuff like this in the Datebase on the main menu; very useful).

Discovered her via a free cd in HMV which had "Maybe He'll Notice Her Now" on it. Heard it and loved it. Bought "Oh Romeo" after hearing it when she did the lottery show. One of the best songs of its year. She had some degree of success in Canada but little in the US where she failed to have a single hit single.

Not quite true, in 1996 her debut album, "Ten Thousand Angels" sold more than 2 million copies and the single "Guys Do It All The Time" was massive in the USA. Unfortunately it was mainly downhill from there and her lack of further big sales sucess was accompanied by lots of personal problems.

The song spent three weeks on the chart too.

All physical copies too. no downloads then

It was a nice performance too. Really nice to see it again and you are right that it was quite an achievement for an unknown country singer to chart. Good promotion.

"Oh Romeo"was co written by Matraca Berg (with Gary Harrison).
