A rather second rate track made 20 years ago and stumbling to No9 is better than all current music and rhumbles to No1.
I knew it when Tony Christie got to No1 a few years ago with a song that first squeaked to the lower 20s in the same 1971 week my Lazybones was No21.
Music we made then had mass appeal. Today's hits generally don't.
