Get Lucky - best track ever? 12 Years, 1 Month ago
So some friends of mine are saying but I can't hear it at all. Am I losing my ability to hear hits?

It's horrible. I couldn't wait for it to finish, it is painful and repetitive, goes nowhere and I dont think "mumble mumble gerlucky" is much of a hook.
Apart from that its very nice.

With this specialist radio, directed music, small and narrow appeal sounds, I fear it's the killing of mass appeal smashes. Someone just said "this town ain't big enough" on TV covering local elections and I thought Sparks - brilliant - not even that big a hit but an essential ingredient of so many million peoples' lives.

And I can still sing it right through despite not hearing it for years.

I love this song. The Nile Rodgers old school sound takes me back to those marvellous Chic productions of 30 - 35 years ago. I can't help dancing around the room to it even though I'm 54! It's the best track of the year so far for me.

"This Town Aint Big Enough For The Both Of Us" was a huge hit.

Reached number two in 1974, Number 40 in 1997 and reached number six when covered by Justin Hawkins in 2005!!

There was even a video.

I'm never convinced that a No2 is that big a hit.

It seems to be inspiring several videos; I really do wonder whether it's just that my ears are getting old and tired...

Well it was better for being shorter. Still, isn't it often the way that the best songs are loved by some and hated by others?

It's just another simili-disco track based on a very cool guitar riff. It hardly qualifies as a song, does it?

I read a week ago that people were worried that a leaked Daft Punk was not "genuine". I had to laugh: Daft Punk are all about being derivative. The notion of being genuine is irrelevant. They are only fun inasmuch as they refer to other - more memorable - things.
