Sounds of the Sixties - King of the Road... 11 Years, 11 Months ago
OK, Roger Miller's hit is old but my God it illustrates how simple charm and musical ability can make a classic, great song and a multi million seller that's as fresh today as it was in 1964.

This first struck me a few years ago when I was driving and "Sha La La La Lee" by the Small Faces came on the radio - that a 40 year old record sounded more vibrant and alive than anything else on the then current playlists.
I don't which is the self-fulfilling prophecy now - is the mindless soulless thumping music influencing the sugar-guzzling plant-food sniffing audience or are the listeners creating the brainless distorting thud as a reflective of their own brain patterns?

Nor was he a one hit wonder ... had an album of his somewhere and almost every track was equally catchy and quirky. I remember "England Swings"?
