The strange hysteria about sex continues - everyone seems quite rightly to feel "aah - how sweet" when a l5 year old runs away with a 12 year old. But very different emotions polluted the media when a 46 year old ran off with a l4 year old. And that was dealt with in a very different way when a 24 year old policeman ran off with a l5 year old girl. It appears we all agree - there's nothing wrong with two people falling in love and running away. It's not the act that's wrong. If it was murder or mugging or robbery - it would be condemned by everybody, whatever the age of the perpetrator. No - what matters is the AGE. And of course the GENDER. And, it seems, the OCCUPATION (police are different from builders). Let's be honest - society wants a key say in who fancies whom and why, It's now regarded as a much more serious crime for two people to have consensual sex together (as I did) than for someone to kill someone else (as Tony Martin did). If society decides blue eyed people should not fancy brown eyed people - we should construct a law banning it. If women decide sex is unpleasant, we should outlaw all sex and make procreation through medical and surgical means compulsory. That's the way it's going and all I want to know is - WHY? JK
