The entire project was a massive success, though I loved three of the last five - Philip Pullman, Jane Austen, JK Rowling - and didn't like the winner - Lord Of The Rings, which I though started brilliantly with The Hobbit and went downhill, unlike the films which seem to be going the other way.
I've never got into The Hitch Hiker's humour, but by coincidence my favourite of the five, His Dark Materials, was given to me as a Christmas present two years ago by my friend who's next project is making the Hitch Hiker's film. Let's hope that's a good omen for him.
My personal ultimate favourite big read is Bleak House and where on earth was Gulliver's Travels?
