Dear Charles Clarke,
BAD LAWS MADE IN HASTE
As you consider the new laws to arrest and detain terror suspects, may I reminc
you of the laws Michael Howard pushed through when he was Home Secretary in
the 1990's?
With the best intentions, to punish those who abused vulnerable children decades
earlier with no witnesses or evidence and only the word of the victims to
be taken as proof, Howard brought in laws abolishing the need for corroboration
I know you cannot comment on specific cases but I am just one of the thousands
Of victims of false allegations. Whether it be greedy adults keen for compensation
Cash or media fees or corrupt or lazy police eager for convictions to improve their figures, this has encouraged invention, exaggeration and police
