News of the World admits guilt to crime? 17 Years, 5 Months ago
Dear oh dear and we thought they disapproved of breaking the law!
Will there now be a crusade for Goodman's Law?
Let innocent members of the public know when someone who works for a criminal organisation is living in your area.

Translation of Coulson apology for non Fleet Streeters 17 Years, 5 Months ago
The unreserved apology from the paper's editor Andy Coulson and its royal correspondent Clive Goodman came as an Old Bailey court heard details of a phone tapping operation targeting both royals and celebrities.

Let's just translate this "unreserved apology"...

"I know the public are so stupid that they will believe this apology and think I knew nothing about any phone tapping and never do anything norty (like doctoring photographs). It is a great relief to me that this deep seated moronic quality will enable me to continue to sell millions of papers and break the law on a regular basis".

The chuckles around here are this is the best day since Wade was arrested for beating the shit out of Ross.

Big red faces and much nervousness.

I was very surprised not to read Kelvin Mackenzie's take on the Goodman story in his Sun column this morning.

Weak editors don't let commentary on inter corporate matters run on their pages.

Strong editors know a variety of opinions strengthens the paper.

The editor of the Sun when I wrote a weekly page for 10 years would have let me print my scathing views.

Who was the editor when I was writing (and the paper was selling well over 5 million - far more than today)?

Why, Kelvin Mackenzie, of course.
