Brits nominations party 17 Years, 3 Months ago
Lemar was being very nice to everyone; James Morrison seems a good guy;

Tony Wadsworth was being the big new Chairman of the BPI as well as boss of EMI UK and yet remains a thoroughly decent guy, mild mannered and low key; a certain key music person commented that three of the finalists in the single of the year category were in the Record of the Year contest - Lily, Sandi and the one that won ours and will probably win theirs - Take That;

Peter Jamieson - without tie now he's retiring - was very relaxed and highly amused by the recent media rubbish; the decor seemed all roses - very New Labour; huge relief that Lethal is no longer a part of it; Matt Willis was there rather upset that his solo album hadn't done better after I'm A Celebrity;

several Universal representatives feeling very pleased with themselves and their current high representation in the charts; Nick Philips of Warners is still the most laid back Chairman; I think Craig Logan was there; Orson got a huge cheer from the crowd when they were announced - a big industry favourite (and EVERYONE knows the Tipsheet found them);

my faves? James Morrison and Paulo Nutini, that brilliant REHAB song by Amy W (should have been No1) - that's a US hit if anyone over there knows how to break hits, Orson of course, Crazy, the Take That comeback (so much better than anything Rob's done in years)...

Russell Brand was wearing mascara and a sort-of-dinner jacket; no sign of Mcgee, sadly; very odd gossip from a Wapping insider (could she have been called Emma Cocks?) - if it was her, and she was telling the truth....

Ged Doherty predicting big success from Sony/BMG this year... Steve Redmond has put weight on... Fern Britton has lost weight - or perhaps it was Fern Cotton... Brand kept telling everyone she reminded him of a nurse in a James Bond film (she did)... Fratellis brought the house down (Peter Whitehead told me about them when they were still unsigned)... wasn't keen myself - song full of woobly doo nanana type stuff...

Helen Terry is quite a girl; I remember her when she used to sing with Boy George...

As for Liam and Noel, every time I met them they were perfect gentlemen and very polite and well behaved. That may shock some people!
