being edited out last night of the repeats (as warned by your BBC poster). Whilst seeming unimportant in the greater scheme of things this BBC censorship is a subtle, serious matter. The millions deeply offended by this kind of rewriting history tend not to contribute to online forums. Encyclopaedia Brittanica was always more accurate than Wikipedia.

Not convinced by your EB reference - I suspect subtle censorship has always been around. Chinese whispers existed long before China. You'll probably see media increase the amount of what is and is not suitable for inclusion and change the boundaries depending on what the current moral or social climate dictates. The one constant is that most people are incapable of considering complexity so we'll see even more simplification and headline writing. Whether or not I ever contributed to a minor TV show is pretty low down in most peoples' view of history. Details are regarded as trivia except by anoraks.

A mention of you by DJ Mike Reid was cut from the latest Pops before he introduced Toni Basil.

It's Mike Read and I'm told he was wearing a silly wig and the line of dialogue badly snipped from the show was "Ha! You thought it was Jonathan King didn't you? Well it's not, it's me you see - and here's Toni Basil...."

At least there exist original shows on You Tube for people to see what the Establishment get up to. I constantly get messages asking for proof that Jimi Hendrix sent me a thank you letter for turning him onto Hey Joe (by The Leaves) and telling him to cover it. Ditto the controversy about the Ivor Novello Award I was given for Una Paloma Blanca. Why I would make these things up is beyond me. If I was going to claim an Ivor falsely it would be for a song I wrote like Everyone's Gone To The Moon or Johnny Reggae (both huge global hits in 1965/6 and 1971/2). And why would I say that about Hey Joe if it wasn't true? Sadly my witnesses like Jimi and Joe (Dead) Loss have all passed away. Something those covering up the truth like to use. But rather like British Justice, these days one is asked to prove a negative and you're guilty until you can prove innocence.

There are those jealous of your contribution to music and entertainment over the years Mr king...i challenge anybody to show us anybody else who did as many and varied things as yourself....

....yes some had more hits, yes some produced more hits...some managed record companies longer, some wrote more hits, some may even have won more Eurovisions.....but who did them all?.....and more...much more....?

I just had an E-M asking why don't I go on Wikipedia and correct the mistakes. Pointless; they would only be erased by trolls. Another asked why I don't carry the proof here or in my books. Answer - I do - there are photos in the books of my getting awards and clippings from national papers but that doesn't seem to satisfy the editors, whoever they may be!
