Fantastic fresh, local Jerusalem Artichokes made into a fantastic white soup with fresh bread.
I took tremendous patience peeling the little blighters, but as they were very fresh, it wasn`t too bad.
The bad news is they have a rather notorious gas effect on the digestive system, which we await.
The really bad news is, as I was peeling away, one fell on the floor, and the dog, being a natural scavenger, swallowed it whole.
Oh deep joy!

I love Jerusalem Artichokes - terrific, unusual flavour with butter and cream and pepper in soup.

Well, I learnt quite a lesson about them last night. There are no gastric problems at all when they are that crisp. After last years experience of slightly soft ones that are difficult to peal, those ones are just fit for the bin sadly, this is something you cannot check for if you buy a plastic bag of them at the supermarket.
I don`t know if this coincidental, but I ate no meat yesterday and I feel as fit as a fiddle today, it`s very hard to isolate that one thing in a diet that stops that feeling happening.
I rather suspect it`s unfresh ingredients.
Whilst on ingredients and breaking news, regular food post readers will notice in a lower thread a deliberately cryptic reference I made about the Suffolk turkey/bird flu situation which is todays headlines.
I mentioned no names but the papers did.
