If I've understood it correctly, it seems from the
appeal judgement that the original defence team were aware of similarities between Tonya Lee's story and Savile great-niece Caroline Robinson's earlier story but decided now to run with it in case it backfired by drawing a parallel between Rolf Harris and Jimmy Savile in the jury's minds. The new defence team resubmitted this evidence but the appeal court said that "
It is not the purpose of appellate proceedings to allow a second bite of the cherry in such circumstances and we decline to receive this evidence."
I'm convinced Lee copied the mechanics of her story from Robinson and wouldn't be surprised if she used another interview published on YouTube, namely with Robert Hughes' niece Melinda O'Donnell, as inspiration for the alleged emotional impact, as there are similarities with it too, though not as many.
