The article refers to "leading campaigner Jon McCourt". It looks as if he didn't just tesify to the historical institutional abuse inquiry but also to the Bloody Sunday inquiry.
"Jon McCourt grew up in Derry, Northern Ireland. He marched for civil rights in 1968, and joined IRA in 1969. He left in the mid 1970s, feeling disillusioned that it had moved too far from the civil rights agenda and was contributing to increased polarisation and sectarianism. He then became a community peace activist, and has worked in the area ever since, including working with victims of violence, community relations and youth in criminalised areas"

John was forced to live in a boys’ home until the age of 13 because his family was denied a house because they were Catholics in a Protestant neighborhood. After witnessing a Civil Rights March at the age of 17 where the police beat Catholic leaders in Derry who were protesting peacefully, John McCourt joined the IRA. It is important to note as well that the population in Derry was 70% Catholic, but were never able to be in control because of gerrymandering. John was on the front lines of the fighting during “The Troubles”."
