Just because he looked such a sweet little baby. Sad.

Yes, a Sweet looking little boy, so sad. I think those on both sides of the "argument" (there wasn't fundamentally an argument, and I don't mean GOSH; that was science not a stance...) should hang their heads in shame.

Principally the appalling press coverage and idiotic "public" reactions...

And the worst on both "sides" - those who referenced the poor parents - either way - who did what all parents would or could do, which was the very best in their power...should reflect on what the phrase "misery porn" may mean....and particularly for them....

Yes sadly it was all because it was a great story; as so often in our media lives. I often think the virtual reality we live in has little relation to the real world we used to live in. FRIENDS these days are often people we have never even met, let alone care about. We all need the over coloured, dramatised, fake inflated universe of drama to inspire our dead emotions. Charity fatigue. Care fatigue. Mere tragedy is of no interest. Decent, normal human beings now need to tighten the colour and exaggerate the impact.

His parents obviously loved him but sometimes you can love too much.

They should have said goodbye some time ago because there was absolutely no hope and even the snake oil American doctor didn't really and couldn't really offer anything.

Life without quality isn't life.

We know, Steve, you are in a better position than the rest of us to judge this. Believe me, we are aware and do appreciate.

I try not to be preachy

I wanted that miracle but it was becoming very obvious from the underlying text of this that Charlie was a lot more ill than was coming out by the parents and the press. When it came out that the American doctor hadn't even read the medical notes......

Very true, Steve.

As I said in another post, its a pity his parents put their wants (and fame) before the poor lad's best interests.

Its heart-breaking, but like can be hard ... pretending it isn't doesn't help anyone.

I just hope and pray that his funeral isn'[turned into a Diana type flowerfest by those who spend their lives lighting candles and throwing roses at passing hearses......I have a horrible feeling it won't be dignified and private.

Why do you think his funeral hasn't already happened?

They are planning the disco ...

The book ... the film ... and their TV interviews !

It is common to have to wait a couple of weeks for funerals now. Also they took his body home in a refrigerated cot for a few days, which they say helps with the grieving process.

Hope there is not a bidding war on who will broadcast the funeral.
