TOPIC: Lewis Hamilton's Jet
#168400
Lewis Hamilton's Jet 6 Years, 5 Months ago
Good luck to him. If he obeyed the laws of the Isle of Man, good for him. For God's sake, media, stop making storms out of farts. Actors - legal loopholes; ways accountants advise them to keep as much of their earnings as they can. Apple? Google? Good at legal manipulation of their profits. Good for them. We'd be better off in the UK attracting companies with beneficial tax laws that would make our coffers swell so we could afford more nurses, doctors, teachers, firemen - and train cops better so they don't break laws.

really you are talking rubbish.

You keep saying the same thing as though that justifies it..the whole point of politics is to make changes and reforms that will make life better for as many as possible.

Claiming it's legal (doubtful) is like saying there is cancer so why bother doing anything about it?

Everyone who pays the right tax, VAT and the myriad of other taxes ..that's the millions of workers who cannot make these arrangements, subisdises greedy people like Lewis Hamilton when he flies his jet into the UK and lands at an airport, uses all the facilities, drives on the roads etc etc.

This is not about how clever accountants can be , it's a moral issue that a tiny handful of the very rich get privileges that the tens of millions can't.

The appalling thing is- it's all about unmitigated greed..the fact that Bono has more millions $$ he could ever need in his life wants even more for some bizarre reason.

There will come a breaking point where tax minimization is so endemic and that there are fewer and fewer waged earners who can pay tax, that the system will break down.

This is not even Capitalism, it's free market madness.

And it's ridiculous to try and compare this with the other ludicrous stories in the media about Kevin Spacey groping someone 30 years or a politician touching a knee.. this is real investigative journalism and it didn't come via the tax dodging tabloids owned by foreign billionaires, it came via a journalistic entity funded by one of the world's richest men George Soros ( Warren Buffet supports him) who thinks unless these rorts are closed down Capitalism may completely collapse and all those with their money hidden away, may find it worth a fraction of what it was.

## if you are very rich you should support the closing of these tax dodges if you want your wealth to stay as it is.

Yep - If the majority of us plebs were not constrained by PAYE and contracts we would probably all be doing cash in hand work - the poor equivalent of this. I know of someone who seems to deliberately produce films that get released without much fanfare usually with fairly big names. The films soon disappear into obscurity, but allow investors (probably including the big name actors) to get their money back with huge tax breaks in a kind of sophisticated Bialystock & Bloom racket. They are the first to complain when the wheel on their Porsche is buckled by a pothole. I think the Govt are getting round to targeting this finally.
