More madness as the Witch Hunt claims another victim. Notice the way victims of the media ("good story") always "admit" some claims (remorse is SUCH a potent defence - NOT! Notice how it never, never, never gets the remorseful any forgiveness or better treatment) but deny the (usually criminal) more serious ones. Again, we have no way of knowing whether he is guilty or innocent. But we DO know that either Karma kicks in (those tainted by the slightest contact with media) or simply everybody has secrets which, if exaggerated or even recounted accurately, can destroy - ITK take note).
There can be few things worse than losing a child. But the McCanns have suffered far worse than most other parents, thanks to the media. If Brendan's wife's death had not attracted media coverage, he would not now be in this place.
Media. I adore media (it's been very good to me over 53 years). But I'm well aware of the negatives. As I am aware of how useful it can be on your side.

He was happy enough to use the press when it suited his aims, and in the internet age hiding is harder. The press is not an animal that can be tamed.
The McCanns went out enjoying themselves while leaving a helpless child alone,Cox indulged in inappropriate sexual behaviour, both so far have not got the punishment they may well deserve.
I tend not to believe everything carried in the media (traditional or social) but then I have the advantage of having been in it for 53 years. I do agree most people do believe anything - and delight in negatives. Better stories. I also giggle at seeing people who have tried and often succeeded in doing good deeds and saving lives, being prevented from doing so in future because of a "good story". Illustrates the stunning stupidity of the lemmings that humans have become. And that wonderful example of the scorpion stinging itself to death. Doh!
The mccann's went out enjoying themselves and have yet to get the punishment they deserve eh Poster?
I think you will find for a moment of -yes- selfishness they have probably felt a tad punished by the outcome...
And if you think I am referring to the media then I can only guess you are being punished for a past misdeed yourself, given the mind you are currently being forced to inhabit...
The mighty, beloved and much missed Anna Raccoon fell foul of the McCann haters and could not believe the bile she received. Later in life she found many were the same as those belonging to the False Allegations Industry. A fair chunk of our species has bile in their veins. I feel sorry for them (remember the OUTED troll who killed herself in a hotel?). It must be even worse than indigestion.
I like the scorpion analogy...the psychologists tell us we do everything for reward...so today I will gain pleasure from a walk, the papers, watching some sport, finishing a favourite novel
I am trying to understand the mind of someone who gets reward by flinging poison towards others...the inner discontentment must be immense....and suicides no surprise..
What you say about the "mccan haters" is interesting, but chills me in its implication of a multitude...

They did indeed neglect the children, and would normally have been prosecuted for it.
The reason they weren't is that to do so would be to accept that Madeleine was alive when they left her,and was actually in the apartment alone.
the police suspected otherwise, so a neglect prosecution would have messed up possible different charges.
(I am not implying any other crime. just explaining why. )

Except it turned out she wasn't a troll after all. She had never spoken directly to the McCann's,never made threats, and broke no laws.

Maddie's, mummy and daddy know the secret handshake. I wonder if Maddie ever existed.

Without closer examination I can only say I feel terribly sorry for the McCanns and hope my theory (in my book Death Flies) is correct and Maddie is fine, well, healthy and happy living with a childless family who bought her. As far as Brendan is concerned I have no idea either but do feel this is simply times and morality being changed and adapted over time. I had a single once called Flirt. Today it would have to be called Rape.
Funny though there is always a handout when there is more news or leads on Maddie. Yet nothing ever materialises after and don't hear nothing until the cycle begins again.

There are a few ways and means of hiding in the internet age. Instead of apologising and resigning he could have had a very public break down and blame his fragile state of mind and all his troubles totally on someone from the past. This would have given him perpetual victim status, brought him lots of support and sympathy and would have relieved him of ever having to take responsiblity for actions past, present and future.
As part of contributing to this thread I started typing "madelaine mcc..." into a non specific but world recognised search engine...the third option down was "madelaine mccann jokes..."
