TOPIC: World Cup - JK vs ITK
#174961
World Cup - JK vs ITK 6 Years, 1 Month ago
As the other threads are getting unwieldy, JK feels cutting off your leg to cure a broken finger is silly and a ban will not happen. ITK feels it is a good way to punish Russia for allowing or encouraging citizens to kill people. JK reckons a ban will not and should not happen. ITK thinks it will.

Avaaz is a US based cyber-active group, essentially run by George Soros' Open World Foundation.

ITK is a paid up member of their Cup of Shame campaign which - as the US are not going to the World Cup - wants to hurt Russia, financially, as much as possible.

Last time I looked, less than a million had signed up to the campaign; an insignificant figure compared to the billions following the event itself.

Sadly, ITK can't differentiate between facts and propaganda - which uses Syria as its basis for Putin bashing.

Trying to use sport to make political points isn't new or the way forward. Governments - through the UN and elsewhere - are tasked with keeping the world order.

Not football hooligans...

Would England fans in Russia be safe? Remember the Russian hooligans in Marseille.

There is always crowd trouble in any game and in any division.

Trouble is there if you're looking for it at any football ground even non league.

... a broken finger ?

You think an attack on a UK citizen (the Russian WAS a naturalised Briton) is like having a broken finger?

The man is almost certainly dead !
We still don't know how many others are affected.

If the Russians get away with this (as they have done in the past) they will do it again (and again ... as they have done over 1,000 times now in Syria).

The problem with hitting Russia financially is that it is very unlikely that it will cause Putin to be in rags eating bread and dripping.
Ordinary, decent people will be the only ones to suffer.

Every time he "gets away" with it only emboldens him.

Why would he risk soldiers lives, when he could simply send 1,000 small jars of chemicals - to Europe - to do his work for him?

Either we shall all pull out of the World Cup or we won't. Let us wait and see.

Speaking on the BBC's Daily Politics, Labour MP Ian Austin said England should boycott this summer's World Cup in Russia in protest at the Putin regime and over fears about fan safety.

Asked whether he would be attending, former Conservative minister David Mellor said he would quadruple his life insurance before he "even thought of going".
