Harry Potter actually.

Thank heavens for a prime time TV series that gets the words "a sonnet has 14 lines" into the script.

Class!

I missed the episode. I wanted to see if RTD had done his research for a change and acknowledged the fact that The Doctor had met Shakespear several times before. If it was written as though this was their first encounter then that will be very disappointing, but not surprising. So many slip ups in the new episodes when all the researchers have to do is flip through some old yearbooks.

Cat - it becomes clear; you are a fan of the original Dr Who series (I wasn't at all) and are irritated by discrepancies in the new series.

I simply adore the intelligence, wit and fun of the new series.

Clearly never the twain shall meet!

I`m surprised we havent had a "Time Tunnel" re-make series..

Another format that has been tried and tested many times but was quite a cult at the time.

Another series I would love to see again,or re-made is the "Survivors" from the seventies, in which we all got wiped by a plague except for a few, who had to re-build everything.

I was glued. You can`t even get a video or dvd of it, whereas with "Blakes 7" (dear oh dear..) you can get a boxed set.

Obviously my favourite Doctor Who was the one that dressed as a cricketer.

Mart ... Survivors series 1, 2 & 3 are all out on DVD and available through Amazon.co.uk

Yes I was a fan of Dr Who since the 1960's. I well recall stories like 'The Mind Robber' which was very imaginative, well layered with various twists and turns. The strength of the earlier years was in the stories. This is why they are still watched and talked about 30 years after. The new episodes have no depth, and they lack continuity from one episode to another, not just with the old series. I don't think it would be too much of a strain for the writers to put a bit more effort into it. Ratings are one thing, but to make classic TV which will stand up to repeated viewing over several generations - that is something to be proud of.

Ah but you see Cat, I reckon the RTD series are classic, memorable TV.

Can't speak for the old ones; they weren't for me but they were clearly for you and many others.

But this lot is marvellous.
