I'm waiting for that issue to arrive !! ( I subscribe)

but as if we didn't know all about Mary & Cliff.

All I can say is Karma Karma Karma and may it strike swiftly and accurately.

A cunning man but not an intelligent one.

"former police detective".. Oh really? acting detective for 6 months only.

Can you imagine the number of former colleagues (I hear they are many) just waiting for him to stumble.

Here is a reminder of a few things said in a 2013 interview with the Guardian:

Williams-Thomas has worked closely with Scotland Yard's Operation Yewtree inquiry into abuse by Savile and others, sharing new leads and contact details for victims as he proceeds. He has a dossier featuring a catalogue of allegations alongside the names of about 20 suspects, including some household names, which he has shared with detectives. In some cases that has led to arrests, he says, although he does not reveal names.

It's high time his role in Yewtree was investigated. Are there any investigative journalists (apart from himself) who'd dare to do that?

He's not even very good at investigating. His recent series was essentially a wild goose chase - the original premise (the disappearance of a woman in East Sussex) was completely lost.
You'll notice also that he does the Alan Partridge trick of featuring his new Jaguar at every opportunity.

He does seems to focus rather narrowly on murder and sexual assault. Nothing about burglary, fraud or blackmail, for instance. Surely they could be made equally interesting, for TV.

Correction: he is interested, if fleetingly, in burglary.

"1 of 2 Something a bit different today-am in Manchester answering a call from a son whose dad had his pride & joy motorbikes stolen in 2002 . I have info & names of the 2 thieves- police say it’s not enough to speak to them ."
twitter.com/mwilliamsthomas/status/997831722233401344

"2 of 2 So off to see the 2 people and also another person who is connected in the burglary. These motorcycles are very rare 1000cc Vincent Black Shadow & 500cc Vincent Comet"
twitter.com/mwilliamsthomas/status/997779380754698241

"Oh, honestly, out of the way you useless coppers, let me!" A motto for his family crest?

I've often wondered whether his decision to put out this tweet (on the day the Leveson report was published, which said that suspects' names shouldn't be disclosed unless they were thought to be a risk to the public) was all his own idea. He must have had good contacts if he was able to tweet it "currently":

"Breaking : Rolf Harris currently being interviewed under caution at police station as part of #Savile other #sexual offences"
twitter.com/mwilliamsthomas/status/274181776283406337?lang=en

It had nearer 900 retweets originally. Could have set the spark for anyone anywhere with an internet connection to concoct a story.

It would also be interesting to know what kind of liaising was he doing. ("Mark Williams Thomas ... has been liaising with the victims of Rolf Harris for many months" source)

In his own words:

(4:00) "If we can ta... if we can prosecute or have prosecuted the most untouchable, then everybody is fair game"

(3:40) "There are a number of people that I'm currently focussed on and I will make sure that they are brought to justice. [High profile?] Absolutely. Two very high profile people and I will make sure that they are brought to justice."

("Interview with @NickyAACampbell on @bbc5live regarding Glitter & child sex offenders" MWT Twitter/Audioboom 6 February 2015))

"Target" was what I thought of. He certainly caught himself. I wondered if it was a Freudian slip.

I'd like to know if the dossier mentioned in the 2013 interview could be the same 700 page dossier "a police source" showed News of the World journalists in 2001. Obviously a burning desire to start a trawling expedition and "guilty before proven innocent" type trial by media had been in the pipeline at this time.

Last night, a police source on Operation Arundel, told News of the World
investigators: "You'd be amazed just how famous some of the abusers are.
They've made their names by being squeaky-clean.

"In secret they're monsters."

DO you recognise any of these men as your abuser? Ring 0207 782 1001 any
day, 10am-6pm. A sympathetic reporter will be waiting to take your call.

Just wanted to add that what he says sounds like "tah" not "tay", so perhaps it could also have been "tackle", but the fact that he stopped himself and also used the expression "fair game" ("A person or thing that is considered a reasonable target for criticism, exploitation, or attack" source) makes me inclined to think it was "target".
