TOPIC: The "Fat" gene
#17778
In The Know (but not this time)

The "Fat" gene 17 Years ago
Scietists have (apparently) discovered a "fat" gene - which makes certain people pre-disposed to turning into fatties.

How come it has never affected previous generations, I wonder?

Perhaps lard, settees, and lack of exercise still has an awful lot to do with it !!!!

I always knew I was plagued by a rogue gene.

Put on weight? Me? I've had a lot on my plate recently!

I think I have the "eat a lot stupidly thin" gene.
Oh ,and an "attitude " gene.

The world needs all sorts to make it go around.

I've got a tight gene...

...sorry, somebody had to say it.

(It would be cool to be able to say I may be a stroppy bastard but it's genetic so I can't help it, please don't sack me )

The Mrs Mart to be has set me a goal post to gain one stone in weight before the wedding. I have lost a further 3 pounds.
Anybody needing an "eat yourself thin" diet to avoid the new fangled "fat gene" would appear to be wise to follow the food posts!

Weight is such a perculiar thing.

I've got a friend waiting on joining the police force, he has to pass a medical, the weight scale they use is BMI.

He's a bodybuilder with a higher BMI than 30 which is their cap. If you're over bmi30 they won't let you in the force.

This is his second try at the medical, they told him to lose muscle weight so he could get into the force. The doctors doing the exams know that it's insane but these are the government guidelines they must stick to.

I can understand having the cap for fat people but telling body builders to lose weight?! It's madness!!

Welcome to the board Mr Podge.

All I can add is if this gene thing is correct I have the "thin gene", I have been piling calories down since 7 am this morning and in between meals I am stuffing down a muller fruit corner and other junk food.

It`s a problem either end of the scale on weight in us humans.

But didn`t this used to be called low or high metabolysm?

Someone must have written a trendy new book out there on the subject methinks!
