Frankie Boyle's New World Order 5 Years, 11 Months ago
This show has become so liberal leftie. The three main guests are all female and the extra guest has to be either of an ethnic minority or disabled, and the politics are always very left leaning. Is there any room for other views on mainstream tv.

I find that a very bizarre comment, Rpbbie.

Why is it a problem that all main guests are female? More to the point, if they had all been male would you actually have noticed that they were all male, or felt the need to comment on the fact?

I also get uncomfortable with people saying that any minority or disabled people on such programmes are simply there as a result of some left-leaning agenda. Isn't that an insult to those people/comedians etc ? i.e. 'you can't possibly be on tv because you're talented or have something to say, it must be because we feel we have to have you on'.

In the same way, I tire of the endless comments on twitter etc about the number of gay people on tv (as a gay man I probably notice such comments more than you if you're straight- apologies if I'm presuming wrongly).

If you did a count (not sure how that would work) you would certainly find that the number of disabled, LGBT or other minority people on tv, in films, comedy etc is still pretty small. It's just that we stand out because in the past there were none of us.

Give people a break, and let them shine if they have talent, whether their talent/views are to your taste or not.

(For the record, I find Frankie Boyle's New World Order an irritating programme because of its smugness, so have stopped watching it.)

The BBC is so biased even those in charge have stopped pretending it's neutral.

The small minority who support this bias will be responsible when the Beeb is sold off....I notice David said nothing about the political bias...TV was always full of gay men, they just had the diplomacy to not force it down peoples throats as is the case now.

I don't object to having an all female/ethnic minority panels. I actually like Sara Pascoe and Katherine Ryan and saw her in concert. What I don't like are that Frankie Boyle seems to be trying too hard to be right-on and the fact that everyone on his panel has to have the same views (Anti-trump, Anti-May,Anti-Brexit), and for a channel that is supposed to be impartial I don't think this is acceptable.

Forced down people's throats how exactly (other than that gay people are more visible in the media and in society)?

I wouldn't want to go back to the days when the only representations of gay folk on tv were John Inman and Larry Grayson.

Fair enough, Robbie.

Even tho all the antis you list do correspond pretty much to my world view, I do tire of the fact that this is the only world view presented on the show.

I liked John Inman, and funny enough his character was not gay.
Still not answering the point about the bias on BBC,far more important than somebody disagreeing with you about 'tokenism'.

Change takes time David,it was within my lifetime that gay sex was legalised,it was made illegal because the majority found it offensive, and many religions forbade it.Having visited many strict Muslim countries where it's punishable by death I think you should be very worried by continuing mass migration.

Moan over, your posts while few are very constructive, and you don't resort to nastiness to make them.I hope you take my replies in the same way.
A very good evening to you.
