Well of course you would say that, that is the policy on this site that sexual assault doesn't exist. I was and am a Duran Duran fan and would hope that this isn't true, but I don't know. Duran Duran had thousands of young attractive women falling at the their feet, even in 1995 more than 10 years past their hey day, so you have to wonder what would be the motivation. Katy Krassner his publicist gives a detailed account of the day, even though it is nearly 25 years ago, of course she is going to defend him, you don't bite the hand that feeds you. Other celebrities are excused for forgetting that events happened 25+ years ago (Rolf Harris forgetting that he went to Cambridge for Star Wars). The accuser isn't asking for compensation for this, so what would be the motivation, there is virtually zero chance of her proving that this happened so why is she doing it?

The BBC article says she's a therapist. Here's her website: www.sexcounselinglosangeles.com
Maybe she has a one-track mind.

Regardless of whether her accusation is true or not or accurate or not, the possible motivations for her coming out with this so so many years down the line and oh so so publicly are obvious given the recent climate and recent behaviour of others.
She's either jumping on the #metoo bandwagon like many many others have (even though I don't understand the motivation), either to get attention for herself or try and further whatever the agenda behind it all is.
In the context of the recent #metoo climate and the amount of bs that's been talked, I won't be taking this story seriously.
Any idea what this woman's motivation was?

I don't have a clue, but there must have been one...

Please try not to imagine that we all have the same point of view, Robbie.
I speak only for myself, and strongly disagree with many of the views expressed here. (and vice versa)
If you are looking after someone at an event you are not supposed to take your eyes off them, so I assume this is how his publicist can be sure.
This is the bit that seems nonsense to me.....
""If I made a scene, I'd be in the press: The 'Girl Who Accused Simon Le Bon'. I'd probably be fired, rejected, ignored, even hated,"
No you wouldn't! Your name wouldn't even be in the flipping paper unless you "bravely waived", and as for being fired rejected ignored and hated... really? I cant think of anywhere that people would react that way.
The motive for the accusation has no bearing on the truth of it, but I can think of plenty.
1) publicity. Now we all know who she is and how to hire her.
2) MONEY.
Yes, I know what she SAID. Well she would, wouldn't she? Like many others who claimed they didnt want compensation but took it anyway.
3) She might have a type of attention-needing illness. It is very common.
4) It might be a lie that has escalated.
5) She might be remembering things wrong.
Obviously there is a possibility that he did it.
I think probably not, because people dont go round molesting "in plain sight". Its a myth. They would encounter far more people who would yell and slap their faces than people who freeze.
And before you ask...I cant stand Duran Duran!

I've had the odd occasions where I've had bits touched, prodded, squeezed or slapped in public places or where there were other people around before, usually when the person who did it was drunk and _more often than not_ (though not in absolutely every case) when the bits in question were partially visible due the type of clothing worn. But not in the complicated and intricate way described here or by this woman:
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-...e-on-sex-crimes.html
www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co....-a6877036.html%3famp
And the words molestation or sexual assault never entered my head at the time (it was before I started noticing all the hype around this in the media).
I've even seen women put their hands on men's arses as well (when they were fully covered) when they were under the influence of alcohol too.
I wonder how many pop stars might have a case against their fans for groping or harrassing them? How many pop stars have had their t shirts ripped off by fanatical fans or had underware thrown at them? Could that be a can of worms that gets opened in the future, given the current climate?
I'm more inclined to believe Simon Le Bon here though, due to the current climate and agendas being pushed, the complexity of what she claims he did in the context of where she claims he did it, and the way she's come out with it so publicly and obviously as part of the #metoo, #timesup and anti Trump (who I'm not actually a fan of myself) agenda.
I also find his publicists reasoning and explanation fairly rational...

In my experience drunken letches dont even bother to hide it!
It used to be commonplace for some groups of women to pull mens trousers and underpants down and laugh at them. so common, it even had a name... "Debagging".
Maybe its time for a "them too" movement?

No, a lot of them probably did it in the first place because they weren't thinking properly and having the foresight to think about hiding it would have been a bit beyond them in the state they were in...

Maybe, why not? That's worse than wolf whistling in my book.
I remember, quite recently even, 'wedgying' was also a thing, where they'd pull someone's under pants up at the back so it gathered up between their bum cheeks, that was just treated like fun, though I can imagine it could of potentially caused a fair bit of discomfort if done too roughly.
I remember someone did it to me and my underware ripped, probably just as well the underware being damaged than anything else because the underware was to strong to rip...
