even traveling on public transport is a hazard these days for fear of false accusations.

I always forget when visiting the UK how packed the Tube is and try to avoid the worst times to travel on it. Imagine being on a packed Tube train- anyone could grope a lady (or a man) and if you were a famous face standing nearby the "victim" could convince themselves it was they.

Or take a rolled up umbrella as has happened to me a few times as an owner inadvertently "pokes" you with it.
How much compo would there be for being "raped" by an umbrella?

There was a case a few years ago where a woman alleged she was sexually assaulted by a stranger in a crowded train station. The accuser was apparently a moderately well known actress. It went to trial and he was acquitted when CCTV footage showed that he couldn't have done what she claimed (why couldn't they have retrieved the CCTV footage before putting the poor b********* through a trial)?

The police and CPS did obtain the CCTV footage and did view it. Instead of concluding that the woman was lying with an apology for Mr Pearson and a prosecution for her, they chose to slow down the film to make it appear that the incident took longer than it really did. They tampered with evidence in an attempt to imprison a man they knew was innocent.

When, oh when, will the charge Conspiracy To Pervert The Course of Justice get used to jail police and CPS lawyers? I suppose the problem is - it's the CPS who decide who to prosecute.

They will just be investigating themselves. Unless something drastic happens, and it must.

That actress hasn't done much work since.

She's become rather toxic.
