Terry Hall? 5 Years, 3 Months ago
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6655833...le-ring-aged-12.html

'The Specials singer Terry Hall, 59, opens up about horrific child abuse that sent him spiralling towards drugs and depression after he was abducted by paedophile ring aged 12'

A genuine comment...or are record sales slipping again?

I truly don't know. I have become more sceptical of such matters. He is rather short on details. How precisely did he fall into the hands of these people? Were any alleged members of this ring arrested and/or convicted?

Yes a subtle effect of the False Allegations Industry is that genuine past abuse is now often seen as a way to get promotion or cash or sympathy because so much is exaggerated or invented and more and more people are becoming aware of this.

I agree.

He says:
I suffer from manic depression and avoided all sorts of medication for a long time, then 10 years ago I started taking Lithium and stuff and I'm still on these drugs. And it sort of helps, it sort of helps.'
Bipolar disorder is a serious condition. Mania often involves sleeplessness, sometimes for days, along with hallucinations, psychosis, grandiose delusions, or paranoid rage.

Perhaps a delusion he has as part of his illness?

It could be,but I dont think this is new.
I seem to remember being vaguely aware of something awful happening to him that was known about forty years ago.
Maybe Hedda remembers something from then?

Seeing as he 'opened up' about it forty or so years ago in the NME and elsewhere, then 'opened up' about it a few more times, it's hardly a revelation. One of the problems of newspapers employing mostly semi-illiterate kids as journalists these days is that they aren't aware of what's already been widely discussed.

I am glad someone else recalls it too. I was beginning to think I was having a false memory!

This isn't 'new news' he did indeed speak about it many years ago, without shouting it from the rooftops.

I was a Specials fan back 40 years ago,but do not remember this being said...and a quick search on the net only brings up the latest news....woiuld be interesting to read the original story,if it is available online.....

....by the way David,do like the Instagram link in your profile....so nice when a poster is brave enough to share their real selves...not hiding in the shadows of anonymity.

Its one thing sharing amongst ourselves, and another sharing to the whole world.
I wish we had a private messaging system on the forum.
