I blame Brexit

Major UK investment coming to land rover. ..wonder if others who were far too quick to blame Brexit recently would like to contribute to this thread?

It might just be prudent to see what the announcement says - before commenting!

No definitive news from Jaguar Land Rover yet.

But the statements/comments from BMW, Nissan and Toyota today - weren't encouraging.

Investment decisions are, not surprisingly, being delayed until the Brexit outcome.

happy to contribute.

British car manufacturer sell 9 out of 10 vehicles they produce to Europe so Land Rover won't make a dent in that or make up for the loss in sales if other car-makers leave.

Also LR is really a luxury vehicle and aimed at purchasers who won;t feel the chill of Brexit.

And this is the problem- for the very rich Brexit may be just an annoyance with some added on costs but they don;t care about that.

But for everyone else.....

Not exactly new news....this has been a position since Brexit....and yes there will be winners and losers.....but in plain economic terms....if tariffs arrive on motor vehicles, which I doubt...there will be pressure on european manufacturers to move some production to the UK....I see eventual balance...but uncertainty from remain supporters in both parliament and government is prolonging the problem...

...but just a few days ago,as I was flying out to Agadir on business this was a Toyota announcement.

The richer you were...the more likely you were to vote remain....

....Brexit should be seen as an opportunity....but if the people who take charge have no real belief then a mess as we have now will develop....

The good news is Tory remainers are getting deselected....judging by the no confidence votes going in we will see a Tory party more in touch with its members and voters.....I'm involved in an advisory capacity, behind the scenes...but far too busy on business to do more.....

....Labour seems to be doing the same thing, but for quite different reasons....but it will be exploited by the left to get more radical MPs in parliament....

....suddenly politics is becoming interesting again....I could pontificate for hours....but will spare the boredom factor....hope things are going well in Australia....I'm thinking of expanding my business to those golden shores....
